Abusing Innocent Lives, One Child at a Time

What is Child Abuse? 
Child abuse is a severe problem that is affecting millions of children. All around the world, parents and guardians are abusing their children. There are many different forms of abuse. Physical and verbal abuse are very common. Parents are using all types of ways to scar their children's childhood. Children are traumatized by their abusive experiences.
 

What are the Consequences of Child Abuse? 
Children are suffering everyday. Parents are ruining their children's lives by exposing them to all types of inappropriate behavior. Another serious form of abuse is sexual abuse. When a parent harms a child, there are forms of punishment. It is illegal to abuse a child. The consequences of jail are very common. When a child is found to be experiencing abuse at home, the child is immediately taken out of the situation and the parents face extreme legal issues.

What are the causes of Child Abuse? 

Parents have reasons behind child abuse. A person can go through extreme conditions, and need a way to take out their anger. A major cause of child abuse is through drugs and alcohol. The children's parent are usually not in their 'right mind' and make poor decisions while under the influence of drugs and or alcohol. The parents may of gone through child abuse themselves and never learned how to properly raise a child. There are many causes that lead right to child abuse. 

What are some Solutions? 

Many organizations are trying to make a difference in thousands of children's lives. A certain organization that is known for avoiding child abuse is DCFC. DCFC stands for Department of Children and Family Services. This organization is taking children out of dangerous situations and giving them a safe environment to live in. The harmful parents of these children also face many consequences, while the children are safe. 
  

What Actions can YOU take? 

Bystanders play a very important role in child abuse. There are many actions that everyone can take to avoid child abuse. If you see something, then say something! If children are acting differently and appear to be going through harsh conditions, then tell an adult right away. Another sign of child abuse is physical damage, such as bruises or scars. It is very important that all children are safe. Keep your eyes open to child abuse!

*44.3 of child abuse victims are under the age of 1. 
*In all child abuse cases, 45.3% were male perpetrators, and 53.5% were female. 
*It takes 124 billion dollars to care for child abuse victims!

Hi! My name is Gracie Dohrmann, and I am 14 years-old. I am in the eighth grade, and cannot wait to attend high school next year. I am one of five children, and I love my family and friends! I enjoy playing tennis and hanging out with my friends! My topic, child abuse, is very important to me. Child abuse is a serious issue that everyone should draw attention to! Child abuse is an awful issue and needs to be prevented!
